After the return of an iconic Acura model with the 2023 Integra, the automaker is once again reviving one of its best-known automobiles with the 2024 Acura ZDX. There will be some small changes, though: this Acura vehicle will be completely electric!
To stay informed about this upcoming model, Acura Montréal Centre gives you all the details you need to know while waiting for the official unveiling of the 2024 Acura ZDX. Acura aims to provide more and more electric vehicles to consumers in a context of very high demand.
Acura ZDX: Famous Name, New Design
The Acura ZDX was one of the vehicles in production for the Japanese automaker from 2009 to 2013. It was a bit ahead of its time, offering a crossover in a market that was primarily composed of sedans and pickups.
Sales weren’t as high in volume as expected, but its timeless looks now make it a rare and highly sought-after used vehicle. RPM looks back at this share of Acura’s history:
The last time the letters ZDX were affixed to an Acura vehicle was in 2013, the last year an SUV with a quirky, coupe-like design was on the market. The 2024 model of this automobile maintains its SUV focus, but it arrives in an entirely different market, understanding what motorists want from a luxury electric vehicle.
Futuristic Design
To suggest a step forward into new horizons, electric cars are thought of as tools of the future. Between driver-assist technologies, various connectivity options and a highly engineered body, Acura is counting on the ZDX to announce the first of many electric Acura vehicles that will hit the roads in the coming years.
Its design is primarily SUV-like, retaining its advantages such as higher ground clearance and a more spacious interior and cargo area.
Its modern body work and minimalist appearance are complemented by lines that direct the eye throughout the vehicle. With a long hood and few curves, its pure lines remind us of sporty cars. The illuminated grille and backlit Acura badges complete the look of the SUV of the future that will soon be hitting Québec roads.
What We Know About Its Mechanics
We don’t have all the details for the 2024 Acura ZDX, but we do know that it will be designed in collaboration with GM. GM’s Ultium architecture will be used for the electric Acura, the same architecture as the Cadillac LYRIQ.
Based on the mechanics already present on the LYRIQ, at least we know that this architecture can perform very well in terms of power:
- 340 horsepower
- An electric range of over 500 km
- 325 lb-ft of torque
Keep in mind that this is only an estimate, but we can trust Acura to deliver a very advantageous power.
The available power and instant acceleration will make the Acura ZDX a top performer in all conditions.
A performance version has also been announced by Acura with the ZDX Type S, a vehicle focused on peak performance as you would expect from this type of version.
What About the 2024 Acura ZDX Interior?
The interior of the vehicle has yet to be revealed at this time, but let’s remember that Acura has a proven track record of comfortable interiors. Le Guide de l’Auto tells us in their Acura MDX Type S review:
The family vocation acquits itself very well if there are 5 people on board. Based on its mechanical competition, the MDX Type S has a space advantage for the third row of seats.
So, we can expect the same level of refinement that Acura is already accustoming us to with existing models. Stay tuned for the latest news on the official launch of the fully electric 2024 Acura ZDX.
